lolita, fire of my loins

wow, so yeah. lolita was quite good. i’d almost classify it a “masterpiece.” we’d both seen the adrian lyne version (i <3 jeremy irons) before, but never the classic original. what an incredible cast. everyone was knockout, especially shelley winters.
some choice moments/scenes/quotes:
* camp climax
* i see that you’re interested in art. you really must see the collection of reproductions in my room
* van gog
* cherie
* c’est la vie
* charlotte, darling, that’s my diary. we don’t read other people’s diaries, do we?
* designation of doom
* STOP CRYING!
* let’s keep in touch, y’hear? i’ll write you from alaska.
ps – james mason is a weird looking fellow with charlton heston jaw/chin/jowels. as peg astutely put it, he’s like vincent price, totally asexual.
