good friend/ex-colleague rui is in town right now. she moved to hawaii on christmas, and though we were all thrilled for her, the change has certainly had an impact on my morale here. she’s been deeply missed, so of course a mini-reunion with the gal tonight is hotly anticipated.

but no, girlfriend not only showed up in my “alcove” with her enviable sexy nut-colored tan, fresh hairstyle, and overall healthy glow (b#*%@!), she ALSO BROUGHT me a belated birthday gift: an uber-special hawaiian specialty, chi chi dango mochi from nisshodo. perhaps you may remember when i gushed profusely about these heavenly treats.
