Perhaps it was our chronological ages or just similar experiences, but I very much enjoyed Rory's personality and I enjoyed all those who reacted to his personality. He was Berkeley...the independent, one-of-a-kind store owner...passionate about the books he sold and the talent with which he came in contact. Rory won't be there anymore on those few occasions that I drop by the store and I already miss that. But I will drop by the store and I do expect to schmoozle Todd and leave large hickies on his savory neck. In a world baffled mute by sameness, Rory truly was one of a kind. That is three deaths in Berkeley including two graduating seniors. Sigh.
