I believe they put salted plum powder on the guava. Man, that one shot of Shilin is just how i remember it. I remember snapping a great picture of it with a cop car rolling through. unfortunately it wasn't a wide angle lens so i did not get all the illegal hawkers scrabbling and running away. i still crave wax apples; only in season between may - august.

hahah. Oh sis. You know what I was thinking about last night? My memories of Danshui and our romantic times together. I remember how beautiful, charming, and amazing old school meets new school it was. I mean...come Sunday and there's this plethora of couples and families. I remember the back alleyways of Danshui is very old school...glorified that Canadian man who came to Danshui in the late 1800s and basically revolutionized the place. Then, near the water with basically no fence, gate, or anything, comes the romantic charm of the whole place with couples sitting under the shady trees and eating fresh yams. The families also gather outside under Hawaiian themed tents with misting water, great food, charm, and snacks. Just such an amazing site. Such a charming place filled with little hidden treasures and vintage old school finds such as the Fort of San Domingo, two random castles- one of which was made into this grotesque overpriced restaurant, and more. Sigh. Oh brother. I miss the place so incredible much. Do you know that Vicky went to the Oxford school up there on the hills of Danshui?
