    i’m glad you haven’t

  2. anthony Says:

it’s way arty – i couldn’t pay attention past 10 minutes. i bet you most people going to the moma screening will only see it to say they’ve seen it.

what the hell, Fantastic Planet is an awesome and strange film

  4. Hellen Says:

I guess it’s kind of arty but it’s not like some totally obfuscating Cremaster-type bullshit; it’s got a clear sci-fi narrative. Sure it’s slow and quiet, but that makes the psych-funk chase scenes that much more jarring. And the English dubbing is creepy as fuck. And the art is wonderful!!!!!!

so you guys can SUCK IT

  6. Hellen Says:

I’m just kidding, I love everyone

  7. anthony Says:

i watched it again – english dub on youtube – and it was good. maybe i was thrown off by the french version with its weird scifi lingo on top of the subs. now my initial ill-informed opinion is on the internet. WATEVER.

@eric: why not? so you can continue to make fun of me?

@anthony: dang, pretty cynical view, even for me! but i’m glad you gave it another shot and saw that it is beautiful and weird.

@hellen: hahaha. i love how you went through like a big chunk of the human emotion spectrum in your comments. i think i will love the movie. thanks so much for burning it for me! can’t wait to watch it

it’s very much a document of its time–the sort of thing you’d see on Euro cable access when you were 15 at 4AM.
an old boyfriend actually hooked up the stereo to the teevee to tape the music and make me a mixtape (which I wish I still had). I had no idea it was another train on which to jump. thanks a lot, sfmoma.

Ha! I’ve never actually watched the Savage Dragon cartoon before and even I give Larsen shit for it.

So is there actually a plot to Savage Planet? There wasn’t an apparent one from that trailer.

  12. jenn Says:

@nico: what a sweet mixtape! there is something about it that seems to capture a period of our lives…and i haven’t even watched it yet!

@ryan: WOW. wonder what erik larsen feels when he sees clips like that

@biggle: it’s pretty much a product of its times. yeah, i think there is sort of a plot, but probably a loose one
